Pender Watch & Conservancy
President

Pender Watch & Conservancy is an all-volunteer 501 (c)(3) organization founded in 1986 in Pender County, North Carolina, as "Responsible Advocates for the Environment." We are committed to preserving the natural environment of Pender County for current and future generations by promoting environmentally sound policies and programs. One of our most popular programs since 2004 has been collecting oyster shells and recycling them into oyster reefs in Pender County Waters, to try to replenish the depleted oyster stock. Our volunteers have collected thousands of bushels of oyster shells and planned and built hundreds of feet of thriving oyster reefs along the Intracoastal Waterway in Pender County. We are currently planning to build more oyster reefs for Surf City's Soundside Park next summer.
