Braxton Davis
N.C. Division of Coastal Management

Braxton Davis is the Director of the N.C. Division of Coastal Management, which is headquartered in Morehead City and oversees the State’s coastal planning, permitting, and Coastal Reserve programs for the 20 coastal counties. He also serves as past chair of the Coastal States Organization in Washington D.C., and is currently chairing a multi-state committee on beach and inlet management issues. Previously, Braxton served as Director of the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries and as Director of Policy and Planning for the S.C. coastal management program in Charleston. He earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of Virginia, a master's degree in biological sciences from Florida International University, and a Ph.D. in marine affairs from the University of Rhode Island.
