David is a Carteret County commercial fisherman specializing in oysters and clams for 49 years. His work with oysters includes: wild harvest, operating shellfish leases, vice president at Sandbar Oyster Co. LLC., and researcher at UNC-IMS on oyster related projects in the area of Boring Sponge, substrate development, advancements in aquaculture, and oyster restoration. David was also a panel member at the 2014, and 2015 Oyster Workshops at Piver's Island, as well as a panel member and presenter at the 2015 Oyster Summit in Raleigh N.C.
