Dr. Amy Ringwood

University of North Carolina Charlotte
Associate Professor
704.687.8501

Dr. Ringwood's primary research interests involve understanding the effects of environmental toxins (such as metals, PAHs, algal toxins, nanoparticles) and “natural” stressors (such as hypoxia and pH) on oysters and other estuarine and marine invertebrates (clams, mussels, scallops, sea urchins, crabs, etc.). She uses primarily cellular biomarkers to characterize sublethal, chronic stress in adults, and also evaluates effects on embryos and larval stages.
