Mr. Styron currently manages a 6.5 acres of lease where he grows oysters, hard clams, bay scallops and Sun Ray Venus clams. He and his wife raise their oysters using floating bags and grow the clams and scallops under screens. They both work full time at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and the farm on the weekends. Their plan is to grow the business and retire to farming it. Mr. Styron serves as the President of the North Carolina Shellfish Grower's Association and is the Central Coastal North Carolina volunteer coordinator for The Oyster Spat Monitoring Program.
